LIONS PARKINSON'S
2024 CALENDAR FUNDRAISER

A Project Supporting Research

for Parkinson's in Tasmania

About the Fundraiser

The story behind this calendar project started when close friends from Lions Tasmania, District Governor Paul Cairnduff (2022-23), and the incoming Governor Rob Batchelor (2023-24), were seeking a new statewide charitable project, to which a calendar for fundraising for Parkinson's Research was suggested.

It was decided that in collaboration with Tasmanian organisations such as Lions Tasmania, the Menzies Institute of Medical Research, and Parkinson's Tasmania, that this calendar fundraising project could be, and should be, used to benefit the progress towards Parkinson's Research.

The funds raised from the sales of this calendar project will be used to contribute to the Parkinson's Research being conducted by Hobart-based Menzies Institute of Medical Research, who we believe are committed to furthering Parkinson's Research.

What is Parkinson's Disease?

Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects movement control. It is a chronic and progressive condition that develops gradually over time. Currently, there is no cure for Parkinson's disease, making ongoing research and support crucial for those affected.

Characterised by symptoms like tremors, stiffness, and impaired balance, it affects millions globally. As Parkinson's advances, routine tasks become formidable challenges, impacting daily life significantly.

By coming together and supporting Parkinson's disease research and care initiatives, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by this challenging condition. Your generosity and commitment can contribute to a future where Parkinson's disease is better understood, effectively treated, and ultimately cured.
